FLU SHOT CLINIC IS OCT. 21 AT ODU

Old Dominion University's Student Health Services has received a limited supply of influenza vaccine and will offer flu shots to all students, faculty and staff on a first-come, first-served basis.

The clinic will be from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, in the South Mall of Webb University Center.

While the flu shot is recommended to anyone who wishes to reduce the risk of contracting the flu, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) strongly recommends that persons in the following high-risk groups receive an annual flu shot:

-People 50 years of age or older;
-Those who have chronic respiratory or cardiovascular problems, including asthma;
-Those who have required regular medical follow-up or hospitalization during the preceding year because of chronic conditions, including diabetes, kidney dysfunction, blood disorders or immuno-suppression caused by medications or HIV virus;
-Health care workers in hospital and outpatient care settings, including emergency response workers;
-Those who provide home care to individuals at high risk;
-Household members of people in groups at high risk; and
-Those living in dormitories or under other crowded conditions.

Cost: students, $11 (payable by check, money order or bill to your student account); faculty/staff, $16 (Payment by check/money order payable to Old Dominion University). Bring your student or faculty/staff ID.
