'COOKOUT FOR THE CURE' OCT. 12 AT WHITEHURST

The Old Dominion University Lady Monarchs and Lady Monarch Pride will join forces with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and area hospitals to sponsor a Cookout for the Cure at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, at ODU's Whitehurst Beach.

The event will feature Lady Monarch Head Coach Wendy Larry and the 2003-04 Lady Monarchs. Tickets are $40 and include a door prize ticket, two drink tickets, live entertainment, and a menu featuring seafood, barbecue, side dishes and desserts. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Komen Foundation Tidewater affiliate.

Tickets are available at the ODU Athletic Administration ticket office at 683-5484 and Chesapeake Health, Obici Hospital, Riverside Health System, Sentara Cancer Services, Sentara Virginia Beach General and Curves for Women. The deadline for purchasing tickets is Thursday, Oct. 9.
