COMMONWEALTH OF VA. CAMPAIGN IS UNDER WAY

The 2003 Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign (CVC) is under way, offering employees the opportunity to support the charities of their choice with a financial contribution. The campaign theme is "Lend a Helping Hand" and the campus goal is $114,000. Heather Huling of the Office of Distance Learning is once again coordinating the university-wide effort.

More than 1,000 local, regional, state, national and international agencies are listed in this year's CVC directory, including area United Way agencies. Donations may be directed to up to four agencies or organizations.

A special category has been added this year to help victims of Hurricane Isabel. The CVC code for the Hurricane Relief Fund is 3901. Donations given through the CVC for this fund will go into a pool of money that will be distributed, based upon need, throughout the state.

Pledges may be made via payroll deduction. Those choosing this option should write either their Social Security number or their university ID Number on the pledge card. All employees on 12-month contracts should choose the 24-pay-period option when pledging via payroll deduction.

Employees who did not receive a pledge card or directory are asked to contact their area coordinator. This year's coordinators are:

David Loope - President's Office
Kenisha Sumner - Development and Alumni Relations
Ken Gideon - Institutional Advancement
Judy Bowman - Academic Affairs
Donna Meeks - Administration and Finance
Jackie Hines - Student Services
Ann Brown - College of Arts and Letters
Trisha Bezmen (faculty) and Carlisa Merritt (staff) - College of Business and Public Administration
Martha Garris - Darden College of Education
Dean Spik - Batten College of Engineering and Technology
Connie Davis - College of Health Sciences
Phyllis Brown - College of Sciences
Mona Farrow - University Libraries
Ann Donohoe - Athletics.
