PHYSICS DEPARTMENT LECTURE SERIES CONTINUES NOV. 4

The Old Dominion University Physics Department's Colloquia and Lecture Series continues Nov. 4 with David DeMille from Yale University. All seminars will be given Tuesdays at 3 p.m. in the Oceanography and Physics Building, room 200. Refreshments will be served at 2:30 p.m.

DeMille will discuss two experiments his research group is conducting using the techniques of precision measurement and quantum control that are common in atomic physics to the more complex system of diatomic molecules. His research is enabling unique types of leverage on a variety of problems of fundamental interest, ranging from tests of symmetry violations to the manipulation of complex many-body states of interest in condensed-matter physics.

The next lecture will be conducted Nov. 11 by Michael Kuss on the Gamma Ray Large Area Space Telescope Project (GLAST) at Stanford University.
