ODU WOMEN'S CENTER BRINGS JAZZ-FUNK-FOLK BAND, EMBER SWIFT, TO NORFOLK

To promote progressive women artists, Old Dominion University's Women's Center will bring one of Canada's most prolific independent artists, Ember Swift, to the Diehn Fine and Performing Arts Center 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16.
Ember Swift and her band featuring Lyndell Montgomery and a rotating group of drummers, play a variety of music, from jazz to funk to folk to punk.

"Since her self-titled debut in 1996, Swift has built a following of like-minded idealists, people who want music that's honest, music that's trying to work for change," said Maria Cranston, a reporter with The Daily News in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Advance tickets are $15 for the general public and $10 for students. The day of the show, tickets will be $20. Tickets are available at the ODU Women's Center, located in suite 1000 of Webb University Center on the ODU campus, and at Phoenix Rising book store at 619 Colonial Ave. #2 in Norfolk.
