ODU STUDENT DAKETA SAWYER DIES
Old Dominion University student Daketa S. Sawyer, 29, of Chesapeake died Thursday in a car crash on Nansemond Parkway in Suffolk.
Sawyer taught science at Suffolk's Turlington Woods School, where she had worked since August 2000, and was a student in the educational leadership program at ODU.
Sawyer is remembered as a reflective student who added considerably to her class's activities and discussions. She was an integral part of the group and will be missed not only by her colleagues, but also by her instructors here at ODU, said Lynn H. Doyle, assistant professor in ODU's Department of Educational Leadership and Counseling.
