ODU OFFERS RESPITE FROM POWERLESS HOMES: AN INVITATION TO DINNER

Many people living in neighborhoods surrounding Old Dominion University are still without power a week after Hurricane Isabel, so the university is inviting them to dinner. Students, faculty and staff who have no power at their homes are also invited to share in a meal of barbecue chicken, beef barbecue sandwiches, coleslaw, potato salad, baked beans and cake from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26 on the plaza in front of the Health and Physical Education Building.

"We are trying to be neighborly and say come on over for dinner," said Cecelia Tucker, director of community relations. "There are people who haven't had power for a week because of the hurricane and it has been terrible." ODU Dining Services will prepare enough food to feed up to 400 people.
