ENGEL GUEST OF FIRST 'EXCELLENCE IN COMMUNICATION' SERIES EVENT
Peter Engel, producer of hit television shows including "Saved by the Bell" and "Last Comic Standing," will be the speaker for the Old Dominion University Communication Alumni Chapter's inaugural Excellence in Communication Speaker Series luncheon Wednesday, Oct. 22.
Engel, dean of Regent University's School of Communication and the Arts, will be awarded the chapter's first-ever Excellence in Communication Award during the luncheon. The award will recognize his more than three decades of experience in communications, working as a producer, writer and creator for networks such as NBC, Universal Studios and The Disney Channel.
As chairman of Peter Engel Productions, a subsidiary of NBC Enterprises, Engel produced a number of television hits. He is best known the Emmy-nominated teenage sitcom "Saved by the Bell," which is now syndicated in more than 85 countries, and this summer's reality series "Last Comic Standing," which was recently renewed for another season. Other production credits include "Hang Time," "One World," "City Guys," "California Dreams," "All About Us," and "USA High" for the USA Network.
Scheduled for noon in the Ted Constant Convocation Center's multipurpose room, the luncheon is open to the public. Tickets are $25 per person and $15 for current ODU students. Reservations are required in advance.
