CLASSES CANCELED, UNIVERSITY CLOSED FOR HURRICANE ISABEL

Old Dominion University canceled classes and closed offices in preparation for Hurricane Isabel.

CLASSES CANCELED STARTING WEDNESDAY
All Old Dominion University classes are canceled today through Friday. Students and faculty are advised to check the University Web site or call 683-5914 or 683-3000 to learn of class schedules beyond Friday.

INFORMATION FOR RESIDENT STUDENTS
All University residence halls were closed as of noon Wednesday. Students who had not made plans to leave the campus were evacuated to Longwood College in Farmville, Va., accompanied by university staff.

EMPLOYEE INFORMATION
The University will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. Employees, however, are asked to check the University Web site or call 683-3000 or 683-5914 to learn if offices will reopen on Friday. Should the storm become severe, the university has an Emergency Disaster Leave policy for employees affected by the storm. ACCESSING INFORMATION
Besides the Web site and the phone numbers listed above, the University also will provide area televison and radio stations with pertinent closing and opening information. In addition, if the University Web site is not operational, Old Dominion has made arrangements with Virginia Tech (www.vt.edu) to post Old Dominion-related information.

PARENT INFORMATION
Due to the expected weather conditions, students from the university's residence halls were sent to Longwood College in Farmville, Va., accompanied by university staff. About 200 students boarded buses at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
