ODU NAMED ONE OF REGION'S TOP COLLEGES

Old Dominion University has been named one of "The Best Mid-Atlantic Colleges" by The Princeton Review in its annual guide.

The book constitutes a fifth of Princeton Review's new Best regional guidebooks, which collectively include profiles of more than 600 institutions. The Mid-Atlantic edition showcases the top 98 schools in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C., and West Virginia, as well as Virginia.

Institutions featured in the publication met criteria for academic excellence in their regions and students were interviewed anonymously, either through the Princeton Review Web site or a paper survey. The survey asked students 70 questions about their school's academics, campus life and student body.

Students surveyed praised ODU for its quality instructors, small class size, diverse student body and campus environment. One student noted, "There are many professors from Brown, Cornell, Harvard, etc., who have migrated to ODU. It is not for money, but because they have more freedom to make a difference." Another said, "All of my professors are always open to talk with me (about) any problems I have, whether in their classes or issues outside the classroom."
