ODU STUDENTS ATTEND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

A delegation from the Old Dominion University Model United Nations Society will be attending the annual European International Model U.N. in The Hague, Netherlands, July 3-9.

Students Ashlesha Modi and Christopher Pearson, both of Virginia Beach, and Rafal Winiarek of Norfolk, along with Steve McCoy, assistant director of the ODU Model U.N. Society, will attend the conference and participate in its activities, which include portraying U.N. countries in a simulation of the body's dealings with world events.

In selecting students to go to the international meeting, McCoy and Model U.N. Director Fred Warren looked "for sincere interest in the U.N. and its issues, as well as a well-rounded individual who can balance the activities we do and academics." The three students are members of ODU's Model U.N.

The International Model U.N. has been a regular summer destination for the ODU U.N. Last year, Old Dominion student Ryan Grizzle of Newport News served as secretary-general, the highest-ranking position at the international conference.
