VIDEO FESTIVAL CONTINUES WEDNESDAY
The 2003 Old Dominion University Film and Video Festival, titled "Soundtracks: Music in Film and Television," will be held March 30-April 4. All events are free and open to the public and will take place on the Old Dominion campus in room 102 of the Mills Godwin Jr. Life Sciences Building unless noted.
Today's events include:

9 a.m.
"The Big Chill" (1983), with introductory remarks by Deborah Meltsner, festival director and senior lecturer of communication and theatre arts, Old Dominion University. Seven close-knit college friends are reunited 15 years later after an eighth friend commits suicide. Despite the heart-rending conditions, the group bonds again and finds a new appreciation for life. Running time - 105 minutes.
12 p.m.
"Confessions of a Theme Music Junkie," a presentation by B.J. Leiderman, award-winning National Public Radio composer, who bares all in this 90-minute romp through the rough and tumble world of themes and jingles.
2 p.m.
"Babette's Feast" (1987), with introductory remarks by visiting associate professor Gunhild Agger, University of Aalborg, Denmark. The Danish/French "Babette's Feast" is based on a story by Isak Dinesen. The feast of the title doesn't take place until well into the film; the majority of the film is spent telling the story of two godly sisters and the choices they made in life. In Danish, with English subtitles. Running time - 102 minutes. Reception to follow in the lobby of Mills Godwin Jr. Building.
6:30 p.m.
"Singin' in the Rain" (1952). (Location: Chrysler Museum Auditorium) Introductory remarks by Bill Jones, professor of political science, Virginia Wesleyan College. Called one of Hollywood's best musicals, "Singin' in the Rain" tracks two silent film stars journey toward making "talkies" and the love stories that get intertwined along the way. Running time - 105 minutes.
