SEMESTER'S FINAL ‘WILLOW SONG' PERFORMANCE IS APRIL 21

The semester's final performance of "Willow Song: In Memoriam" will be at 7 p.m. Monday, April 21, in room 104 of the Batten Arts and Letters Building.

In March 2002, the Theatre Program at Old Dominion University lost one of its highly prized students. In memoriam to this student, and in an effort to educate ourselves about the warning signals of relationships that have gone wrong, theatre students and faculty have collected interviews and memories from friends and loved ones of the student who was killed by her partner, along with comments from victims, counselors, police officers and perpetrators who experience the effects of abusive relationships. These interviews are woven together with excerpts from Shakespeare's "Othello" to create "Willow Song" -- Desdemona's song before her murder -- a performance designed to commemorate a loved one and to caution her survivors.
