PHILIP GLASS LECTURE IS APRIL 27

As part of the Virginia Arts Festival 2003, famed composer and performer Philip Glass will deliver a lecture, titled "Music and the Moving Image: A Conversation with Philip Glass," at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 27, in Old Dominion University's Chandler Hall in the Diehn Fine and Performing Arts Center. A reception will follow in the Diehn Composers Room.

The Old Dominion University Libraries and the 2003 Virginia Arts Festival also are sponsoring an exhibit on Glass' work. Available for public viewing in the Diehn Composers Room March 31-May 27 and titled, "Philip Glass: A Synthesis of Music and Film," the exhibit emphasizes his composition of film scores and includes posters, sound recordings and the scores themselves.

"The Hours" (2002), "Naqoyqatsi" (2002), "Dracula" (1999) and "The Truman Show" (1998) are some of Glass's more recent film works. A Web page that serves as a gateway to Glass' official Web site will also be available online at http://www.lib.odu.edu/aboutlib/spccol/music/DCRexhibitsindex.htm.
