ODU GRAD TO ADDRESS U.S. HOUSE WEDNESDAY
Sandra G. Sessoms-Penny, a retired Air Force senior master sergeant, a graduate of Old Dominion University and assistant principal at Smithfield Middle School, is scheduled to address two U.S. House of Representatives committees on Wednesday, April 9, about the Troops to Teachers (TTT) Program.
Sessoms-Penny will travel to Capitol Hill to address the Subcommittee on Benefits, Committee on Veterans' Affairs; and the Subcommittee on 21st Century Competitiveness, Committee on Education and the Workforce on her personal experiences in the program.
She is a 1996 graduate of Old Dominion's Troops to Teachers/Military Career Transition Program.
Sessoms-Penny is also finishing her doctoral dissertation on some aspects of the TTT Program. A policy analysis paper she wrote on the program as a part of her doctoral course work was selected for publication by the George Washington University. She is also a Troops to Teachers mentor.
