C.O.S. LECTURE SERIES CONTINUES THURSDAY

The Old Dominion University College of Sciences Spring 2003 Distinguished Visitors Lecture Series continues Thursday, March 6, when E. Scott Geller, director of the Center for Applied Behavior Systems at Virginia Tech, discusses traffic safety.

Geller will deliver a general lecture, "The Psychology of Traffic Safety: How to Empower More People to Actively Care," at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6, in room 102 of the Mills Godwin Jr. Life Sciences Building.

Traffic crashes are the leading killer of youth and young adults, resulting in more loss of productive years than that caused by cancer and heart disease combined. This dramatic and tragic public health problem requires people to go beyond the call of duty for the safety and health of others.

Geller will discuss "The Psychology of Safety and Health: Making a Difference with Behavioral Science" at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 6, in room 151 of the Perry Library.

In September 2000, The American Psychological Association officially launched the "Decade of Behavior," which is an interdisciplinary effort to promote the critical relevance of behavioral and social science research to address societal problems.
