ENGINEERING OPEN HOUSE AND CONTEST SET FOR FEB. 21-22
Students from more than 150 middle and high schools will celebrate National Engineers Week at an open house and engineering competition at Old Dominion University Friday and Saturday, Feb. 21-22.
Sponsored by the College of Engineering and Technology, the open house will begin at 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, and the engineering competition will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22. Both events will take place in Kaufman Hall.
During the open house, students can take guided tours through the college's labs and research areas, conduct hands-on experiments, see the Legends student race car, and talk with local and regional industry representatives.
Saturday's engineering competition will be filled with fun and learning as students participate in eight different contests. Competitions include: Electric Boat, Baby Baja Racecar, Egg Drop, Electromagnetic Launcher, Impromptu Design, Water Hauling Derby, Model Span Bridge and Mousetrap Car Design.
Old Dominion engineering students will judge the contests, and cash prizes and certificates will be awarded to the winners.
