OEAS SEMINAR EXPLORES TRACER STUDIES AT 3 P.M.

Jay A. Austin, research assistant professor at the Center for Coastal Physical Oceanography at Old Dominion University, will discuss "The Dye is Cast: Tracer Studies in an Upwelling System" at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, in room 200 of the Oceanography and Physics Building.

Tracer dye experiments have become increasingly popular in coastal and estuarine environments as technologies develop that make these sorts of experiments possible. A recent set of tracer release experiments off the Oregon coast represent the first time that these techniques have been applied to an upwelling system.
