OEAS CHAIR TO GIVE SEMINAR ON NORTH PACIFIC COASTAL PROCESSES

Old Dominion University's Department of Ocean, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences' Fall 2002 Seminar Series continues at 3 P.M. Thursday, Nov. 14, with Tom Royer, acting chair of the department, discussing "Coastal Processes in the Northeast Pacific Ocean and Their Potential Impacts on Global Water Budgets."

The North Pacific Ocean is distinct from the other major oceans in that it contains a relatively low-density upper layer throughout the year. The causes for this layer are a diminished evaporation and enhanced precipitation and runoff.
