NCAA FIELD HOCKEY TOURNAMENT BEGINS SATURDAY AT OLD DOMINION
The Old Dominion University Lady Monarchs begin play in the NCAA Div. I Field Hockey Tournament at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at Foreman Field versus former conference foe Richmond.
Old Dominion was named one of four host schools for first and second rounds of the tournament. The Lady Monarchs, a top seed in this year's championship, advanced to the NCAA tournament for the 22nd straight season by winning the Colonial Athletic Association tournament last week. The conference tournament win was their seventh straight and 11th overall.
Old Dominion has won nine national championships in field hockey, the most recent coming in 2000. The Lady Monarchs have spent the last four weeks atop the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Div. I Coaches' Poll.
William and Mary and Maryland will square off in the other first-round game at 2 p.m. Saturday. The winners of each game will advance to a second-round match at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17.
Tickets for this weekend's tournament will be $5 for adults and $3 for children and students with ID.
