ISLAM LECTURE IS MONDAY IN CONSTANT HALL

Old Dominion University's Women's Studies Department will present a lecture, "Islamic Feminist Reflections on Religious Fundamentalism and the War on Terrorism," by author and scholar Farid Esack from 3-5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, in room 1002 of Constant Hall.

Esack, a scholar of qur'anic hermeneutics, is also a social activist, committed to inter-religious solidarity for justice and peace. Formerly Commissioner for Gender Equality in the South African government, he has lectured on Islamic theology, politics, environmentalism, and gender justice all over the world.

The lecture is co-sponsored by the philosophy department, Graduate Programs in International Studies and the ODU Greens.
