DANCE THEATRE FALL CONCERT IS NOV. 21-23
ODU's Dance Theatre will present its annual Fall Dance Concert at 8 p.m. Nov. 21-22 and 2 and 8 p.m. Nov. 23 at the University Theatre. The program will feature work by faculty, students and guest choreographers.
Beverly Cordova Duane, an adjunct assistant professor and director of Second Wind Dance Company, will present a new and exciting work featuring the raw energy of an all-male student cast.
Adjunct instructor and ODU alumna Tamika Burks collaborates with her sister Nikia Burks, a current student at the university, on the creation of a vibrant jazz tribute to Michael and Janet Jackson that will be performed by nine dancers. The sisters will also premiere a new modern dance duet.
Another highlight of the program is the powerful dance "Origins," choreographed by assistant professor Amanda Kinzer. A modern dance for 10 dancers to the percussion music of Scott Fitzgerald, "Origins" evokes a feeling of community and a sense of ritual.
Additional performances will include works by adjunct assistant professor Tami White and guest artist Dana McKenna, as well as selected student works in a variety of styles.
Tickets are available at the door or in advance at the Arts and Letters Box Office in the Diehn Fine and Performing Arts Center; the box office phone number is 683-5305.
Prices are $10 for general admission, $8 for students and senior citizens, and $5 for ODU students. For more information call 683-3002 or 683-4354.
