CAREER SWITCHERS APPLICANTS SOUGHT

Participants are being sought for Old Dominion University's Career Switcher Alternative Route to Teaching Licensure Program, designed to entice individuals from various occupational and life experiences to become classroom teachers, thereby increasing the quantity and diversity of applicants in the profession.

Career Switchers focuses on eliminating shortages in the high-demand areas of teachers of math, science, technology, foreign languages and other endorsement areas as defined by participating school districts in Tidewater and Northern Virginia.

Pariticpants must have passed the PRAXIS I and II exams and have met all content competencies in order to be accepted into the program. They must also participate in screening interviews before acceptance.

Tuition for the program is $3,500, payable in two installments by cash, check or credit card. Financial aid may be availabe to those who qualify. Applicants must possess: a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; five years of professional work experience; and coursework required for the desired teaching area.
