ACADEMICS' FAMILY CONCERNS TOPIC OF TALK DEC. 4

Mary Ann Mason, dean of the graduate division of the University of California-Berkeley, will discuss "Do Babies Matter? The Effect of Family Formation on the Life-long Careers of Men and Women Academics" from 4-5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, in room 1005 of Constant Hall at Old Dominion University.

Universities should do more to help female graduate students and tenure-track professors who start families, according to Mason's research.

The talk is sponsored by the Women's Studies Department and the Old Dominion Women's Caucus in honor of the department's 25th anniversary.
