SYRACUSE PROFESSOR TO DISCUSS THE IMPACT OF I.T. ON SOCIETY TODAY
Old Dominion University's Department of Ocean, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences Fall 2002 Seminar Series will present "The Information Technology Tabula Rasa: Utopian or Dystopian Impacts on Society?" with Prof. Robert Benjamin
of Syracuse University's School of Information Studies at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, in room 200 of the Oceanography and Physics Building.
Benjamin will discuss information technology, its increasing range and reach and the implications of the unintended consequences of information technology. At one level technology may be considered neutral, a tabula rasa which can be applied to achieve positive or negative outcomes.
