LOOK OUT BELOW; PUMPKIN DROP IS OCT. 29
The Old Dominion University Society of Physics Students shapter will hold its annual pumpkin drop from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, on the south side of the Batten Arts and Letters Building.
Again this year, students will design contraptions to catch the orange gourds after they are dropped from atop the nine-story building. Tests based on physics principles will also be performed on the falling pumpkins.
Last year, the chapter received the prestigious Marsh White Award from the American Institute of Physics for designing the pumpkin drop. The White Awards are made to SPS chapters to support projects designed to promote interest in physics among students and the general public.
