CCPO SEMINAR SERIES IS OCT. 21

Old Dominion University's Center of Physical and Coastal Oceanography Seminar Series will present a discussion of "The Step-like Rise of Post-Glacial Sea Level and Some Paleoclimatic and Geologic Implications" with John Milliman of the Virginia Institute for Marine Science at 3:30 p.m. Monday, October 21, in room 109 of Crittenton Hall on 52nd Street. A coffee reception will be at 3 p.m.

Milliman will describe results from some of his recent research that is directed at understanding sea level rise that has occurred since the last glacial maximum. He will also discuss the implications of the patterns observed in sea level rise for climate change. This is an important topic, which has implications for understanding past climate effects on ocean circulation. Understanding previous climate change is the basis for development of theories and models for predicting future climate change.
