EVENT SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED FOR CONSTANT CENTER

Global Spectrum, the company hired by Old Dominion University to manage the Ted Constant Convocation Center, has released its lineup of events to celebrate the 8,600-seat venue's Oct. 25 grand opening.

The Constant Center's concert series will begin when the platinum record selling Counting Crows take the stage Monday, Oct. 28. Also announced is the highly anticipated performance of the chart topping Ludacris, along with Nappy Roots, plus a performance by the legendary Roberta Flack.

Events for the inaugural month include:
Friday, Oct. 25 -- ribbon cutting and Old Dominion's Founders' Day dinner;
Saturday, Oct. 26 -- community open house;
Monday, Oct. 28 -- Counting Crows (tickets on sale on Sept. 20 at 10 a.m.);
Thursday, Nov. 7-Sunday, Nov. 11 -- Sesame Street Live "1-2-3�Imagine!" (on sale Sept. 22 at 1 p.m.);
Saturday, Nov. 16 -- Ludacris & Nappy Roots (on sale Sept. 20 at 1 p.m.);
Sunday, Nov. 17 -- Roberta Flack and Virginia Symphony (on sale Sept. 28 at 10 a.m.); and
Friday, Dec. 13 -- World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) (sale date forthcoming).

"Our goal is to provide something for everyone in the Hampton Roads community at the Ted Constant Convocation Center," said Global Spectrum's Doug Higgons, Constant Center's General Manager. "I think the Constant Center's opening month reflects that, and there's much more to come."

Along with the wide variety of concerts and events, the Constant Center will also be home to the Old Dominion men's and women's Monarch basketball programs. The highly anticipated Lady Monarchs home opener will be Friday, Nov. 22, at 7 p.m. against the University of Virginia. The men's basketball opener will be Sunday, Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. against the University of North Carolina.

The Constant Center is managed by Global Spectrum, which manages more than 30 public assembly facilities and events worldwide. The company is a division of Comcast-Spectacor, the Philadelphia-based sports and entertainment firm which owns that First Union Center, the First Union Spectrum, the Philadelphia Flyers, the Philadelphia 76ers, the Philadelphia Phantoms, Flyers Skate Zone, Comcast SportsNet, and the Bowie Baysox, the Delmarva Shorebirdds and the Frederick Keys, all affiliates of the Baltimore Orioles.
