PRESIDENT'S LETTER APPEARS IN TODAY'S WASHINGTON POST
A letter to the editor from Old Dominion University President Roseann Runte regarding Virginia's funding of higher education appears in Friday's edition of The Washington Post.
In the letter, a response to a column by Melanie Scarborough, Runte notes that support public universities received from the commonwealth decreased during the past decade in relation to the cost of a student's education. She attributes this to the number of students attending the universities increasing, while the commonwealth subsidy decreased, and universities seeking support from federal and private sources.
