MUXIRI ADDED TO LADY MONARCH ROSTER

Old Dominion University women's basketball coach Wendy Larry has announced the addition of Paula Muxiri, a transfer from University Lusiada in Lisbon, Portugal, to the Lady Monarch roster. Muxiri, a 6-1 forward originally hailing from Luanda, Angola, will be a sophomore with three years of eligibility remaining.

"We are excited about Paula joining the Old Dominion family," said Larry. "Her international, as well as national team experience, will be a valuable asset to the team."

Muxiri (pronounced Moo-sheer-ee) joins the Lady Monarchs after an extensive career in Portugal, which included stints with the Portuguese junior championship team and a two-year tour with the national team. Most recently, Muxiri was a member of the Santo-Andre club team and was teammates for one season with current Lady Monarch Max Nhassengo of Maputo, Mozambique.

The Lady Monarchs kick off the 2002-03 season with their annual Blue-White Scrimmage on Saturday, Nov. 2. Old Dominion will hold two more exhibitions, Nov. 6 and Nov. 13, before hosting the season opener against intra-state rival Virginia in the brand, new state-of-art Constant Convocation Center.

Old Dominion returns six letterwinners to the court in 2002-03 including CAA Preseason Player of the Year, Okeisha Howard of Virginia Beach, and Preseason CAA Team member Monique Coker of Bronx, N.Y.
