OTTO MARTINSON NAMED OUTSTANDING ACCOUNTING EDUCATOR
Otto B. Martinson, associate professor of accounting at Old Dominion University, recently received the R. Lee Brummet Award for outstanding teaching from the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA). Martinson was selected for his promotion of management accounting, teaching, scholarship and community service.
Martinson has revised the undergraduate managerial accounting courses, developed a seminar in managerial accounting in the master's in accounting program, and developed a four-course track in managerial accounting for the MBA program.
Additionally, he has written numerous articles on managerial accounting and has won several grants to study managerial accounting issues. Martinson is the author of "Cost Accounting in the Service Industry � A Critical Assessment."
Martinson is active in the local community and serves as a consultant for many local companies.
He has served as chapter president, national vice president, national committee member and state council member of the IMA.
