ODU POLICE JOIN FORCES WITH NEIGHBORHOOD KIDS FOR SOFTBALL CONTEST AUG. 11
A softball game featuring members of the Old Dominion University Office of Public Safety and children from Norfolk's Lambert's Point neighborhood will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, at Old Dominion's Powhatan Field.
Teams of five officers and five children will compete against each other. The event will also feature a home run-hitting contest among the police officers and speed pitch and dunking booths, as well as a balloon jump. Music will be provided by D.J. Hercules and Hot 102.1.
More than 40 sponsors are supporting the event with food and prizes for the Lambert's Point children. Residents of the neighborhood can sign up for the game by calling Walter Schmidt at 248-6805.
