ARMY ROTC STUDENT FEATURED IN NATIONAL ADVERTISEMENT

Immanuel S. Watkins, a senior biochemistry major and an Army ROTC cadet at Old Dominion University, is featured in a national advertisement for the program that can been seen in the August issue of Ebony magazine.

Watkins, a Portsmouth native, is a Marine Corps veteran and a three-year Army ROTC Scholarship winner. Following his graduation from Old Dominion in August, he plans to attend the Hampton University School of Pharmacy before entering the Army as a medical corps pharmacist.

In addition to his ROTC activities, Watkins was the Old Dominion Homecoming King in 2000 and is active in church groups and choirs. He has been recognized with membership in Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities, the Black and Gold Student Society and the Scabbard and Blade Military Honor Society.

According to Lt. Col. Michael Boyle, commander of the university's Army ROTC unit, Watkins was chosen for the advertisement based on his academic excellence.
