WOMEN'S TENNIS ASSISTANT HONORED
Old Dominion women's tennis assistant coach John Hill was named the ITA East Region Assistant Coach of the Year by the governing body of collegiate tennis.
Hill was one of eight regional winners nationwide. The East Region consists of over 70 schools.
A graduate of Norfolk's Granby High School in Norfolk, Hill finished his second season with the Lady Monarchs this spring. Since joining the Lady Monarch program, Old Dominion has captured a CAA title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
This season, Hill helped guide the team to the semi-finals of the CAA Tournament, 13-9 overall record, and a 61st national ranking. Two singles players ranked in the top 70 of the ITA rankings, including, 11th ranked Nataly Cahana (Qiriat Balik, Israel), who advanced to the NCAA Individual Singles Championships, and 62nd ranked Lara van Rooyen (Pretoria, South Africa), an alternate at this year's NCAA Tournament. Additionally, the doubles pair of Cahana and Ana Radeljevic (Zagreb, Croatia) were ranked 44th.
