ENMA TO CHANGE NAME TO ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT AND SYSTEMS ENGINEERING
The Department of Engineering Management (ENMA) has received approval to change its name to the Department of Engineering Management and Systems Engineering (EMSE), effective July 1.
"This name change recognizes the importance of systems engineering to the foundations of engineering management as well as the new master's program in systems engineering implemented by the department," said Dr. Ralph Rogers, chair of the department. "By incorporating systems engineering as part of the department's name, we will clearly identify ourselves as supporting and providing systems engineering programs and expertise to the Commonwealth of Virginia."
The department's focus on systems engineering already has received a positive response from industry. Since pursuing the graduate program in systems engineering emphasizing the issues of systems-of-systems, the department has entered into an agreement to offer the systems program to Northup-Grumman TASC in Northern Virginia. The department also has been contacted by other industry leaders to discuss potential programs and offerings.
