CAHANA REPEATS AS TENNIS ALL-AMERICAN
Old Dominion women's tennis player, sophomore Nataly Cahana of Quriat Balik, Israel, was named an All-American for the second straight year it was announced today by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
The CAA Co-Player of the Year, Cahana closed out the year with a 35-5 overall and 18-2 dual meet record. Ranked 15th by the ITA Poll, Cahana was the fourth seed at the 2002 NCAA Women's Individual Tennis Championships and advanced to the second round of play. Additionally, in the fall she reached the final of the Riviera All-American Championships, the quarterfinals of the National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships and the Eastern Region Championship, and claimed the title at the Cissie Leary Invitational.
In her two years with Lady Monarchs Cahana has compiled an 82-9 singles record. Last season in her rookie campaign, she was named the CAA Player and Rookie of the Year, as well as the ITA Player to Watch.
The Old Dominion women's tennis team finished the season with a 13-9 record and 61st ranking by the ITA. The Lady Monarchs were 3-2 during CAA competition and advanced to the semi-finals of the conference tournament.
