OLD DOMINION INCREASES LEAD AT ICSA NORTH AMERICAN SAILING CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Old Dominion University women's sailing squad have a 27-point lead after two days of the 2002 ICSA Women's North American Collegiate Sailing National Championships. After 28 races, Old Dominion is in first place with 119 points. Regatta host and defending National Champion University of Hawaii is in second place with 146 points, followed by St. Mary's College of Maryland with 148.

The Lady Monarchs last won the national championship in 1987. Sailing for ODU who ranked second nationally during the regular season are Sally Barkow (Nashotah, WI.), Cara Gibbons-Neff (Annapolis, MD.), Corrie Clement (Metarie, LA.), Lliz Bower (Fairport, NY.) and alternates Debbie Capozzi (Bayport, LA.) And Anna Tunnicliffe (Perrysburg, OH).

Old Dominion's A Division boat skippered by Sally Barkow had two first place finishes and a second on the day. The compiled the best score of 50 points. The B division boat skippered by Corrie Clement with Tunniclife, and Bower scored 69 points, third best in their division. There are eight more races remaining.
