DEDICATION CEREMONY FOR RENOVATED CONSTANT HALL SET FOR MAY 21

Constant Hall, home of Old Dominion University's College of Business and Public Administration, will have a grand re-opening and dedication ceremony at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 21.

Following remarks by Walter D. Kelley Jr., rector of the Board of Visitors, and Bruce Rubin, interim dean of the college, the building will be open for tours. The building's namesake, Ted Constant, will also be on hand.

The facility has undergone a $12.5 million renovation and expansion that began in April 2000. The new design by Moseley Architects Inc. nearly doubled the building's square footage to 98,415 GSF. The 23 fully mediated classrooms will provide a state-of-the-art learning environment seen in the country's most prestigious business schools.

Other features of the building include two lecture halls with more than 100 seats each, two Harvard-style case study lecture halls, four seminar rooms, a 34-station computer lab, 18 classrooms, student lounges and meeting rooms, plus faculty and administrative offices.

The building contains a two-story, oak-trimmed, stone-walled main lobby complete with custom chandeliers, terrazzo floors and skylight-covered main walkways, which provide a significant amount of natural light. Inset hallway benches, complete with electrical outlets for laptop plug-in, are available for student use between classes. The building is also designed to accommodate a wireless network that operates on radio waves, which will allow students to connect to the university's computer network without a modem.

Old Dominion's College of Business and Public Administration offers 10 bachelor's, six master's and two doctoral degree programs.
