VA. ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE SET FOR TODAY
The Darden College of Education's Virginia Assistive Technology System will host its 11th annual conference, "Money Matters: Up-Front and Personal," from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 24, in Webb Center.
The conference is designed for disabled individuals and care providers. Jim Rothrock, commissioner of the Department of Rehabilitative Services, will be the keynote speaker.
The following workshops will be presented: Financial Management and Planning; Avoiding the Pitfalls of Consumerism; An Educated Consumer Makes Informed Decisions; Impact of Employment on Social Security Disability Benefits; Resume Writing and Interviewing Techniques; Ticket to Work Program; and Dress to Impress.
The conference fee is $15 before April 29 and $20 after that date. It includes a continental breakfast. There is no fee for an authorized care provider accompanying a participant.
