NCCJ CHAPTER HOLDS FIRST MEETING TODAY

The new Old Domindion University chapter of the National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ) will have its first meeting at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, April 4, in room 232 of the Batten Arts & Letters Building.

Jeff Spence, executive director of the NCCJ Virginia Region, and program coordinator Julie Vaisvil, will explain NCCJ's multicultural mission and welcome new members to the ODU chapter.

NCCJ is a national human relations organization dedicated to fighting bias, bigotry and racism in America. NCCJ promotes understanding and respect among all races, religions and cultures through advocacy, conflict resolution and education. NCCJ, founded in 1927 as The National Conference of Christians and Jews, today serves 65 regions in 35 states and the District of Columbia in order to build communities of justice through its initiatives with youth, educators, community and workplace leaders, media, government, and across faith lines. NCCJ recognizes the need to empower American youth to understand and improve our nation's inter-group relations in order to transform America and build whole, just and inclusive
communities.
