FINANCIAL ANALYST HOWARD SCHILIT TO ADDRESS ECONOMICS CLUB MAY 15
Howard Schilit, a nationally known financial analyst, will speak to Old Dominion University's Economics Club of Hampton Roads at a luncheon Wednesday, May 15.
Co-sponsored by Old Dominion's College of Business and Public Administration, the luncheon will begin at noon at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Norfolk. Due to limited space, reservations are required. The cost of the luncheon is $30 for nonmembers.
The Center for Financial Research and Analysis (CFRA) evolved from Schilit's decade-long research and his lectures on financial shenanigans to investors, bankers, lawyers and insurers.
Since 1994, CFRA Inc. has been an independent financial research organization that specializes in helping institutional investors and related affiliates with deteriorating operational cash flow, aggressive policies and inadequate control environments. Recently, CFRA changed its mode of delivery to a daily Web-based service that includes full-length reports, shorter updates, timely news and changes to the accounting rules.
Schilit is the author of "Financial Shenanigans: How to Detect Accounting Gimmicks & Fraud in Financial Reports," in which improper financial practices and recent accounting frauds are revealed. He is the co-author of "Blue Chips and Hot Tips: Identifying Emerging Growth Companies Most Likely to Succeed.
Schilit received his doctorate in accounting from the University of Maryland.
