DUKE UNIVERSITY COMPUTER SCIENTIST TO LECTURE APRIL 12

The Old Dominion University Department of Computer Science will present a lecture -- "Performance Versus Cost Tradeoffs in Adaptive and Scalable Overlay Networks" -- by Amin Vahdat, assistant professor in the department of computer science at Duke University, at 11 a.m. Friday, April 12, in room 232 of the Education Building.

Vahdat also will lecture on "Back to the Future: The Coming Age of Utility Computing" at 2 p.m. in room 101 of the Mills Godwin Jr. Life Sciences Building.

Vahdat obtained his Ph. D. in computer science in 1998 and his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and computer science in 1992, both from the University of California - Berkeley. His major research interests are in the area of distributed systems, computer networks, operating systems and mobile/wireless systems.
