DEEPAK CHOPRA TO SPEAK FOR APRIL 13 WELLNESS DAY
Deepak Chopra, renowned physician and author, and a pioneer of alternative medicine, will be the guest speaker for the College of Health Sciences' Wellness Day April 13 at the Field House.
The program features wellness workshops and vendor displays from 9 a.m. to noon and a lecture by Chopra at 1 p.m. The workshops will include presentations on mind/body medicine, breathing, smoking cessation, aromatherapy, healthy eating, herbs and vitamins, and dream interpretation.
In 1995, Chopra established The Chopra Center for Well Being in La Jolla, Calif., to provide training in mind-body medicine. His concept integrates the best of Western medicine with natural healing traditions.
The author of more than 30 books and some 100 audio, video and CD-ROM titles, Chopra most recently published "Grow Younger, Live Longer: 10 Steps to Reverse Aging." Chopra came to worldwide prominence thanks to his 1993 best-seller "Ageless Body, Timeless Mind."
Chopra sees his mission as one of "bridging the technological miracles of the West with the wisdom of the East" by exploring the connection between body, mind, spirit and healing.
Tickets are $30 for stadium seats and $60 for floor seats for Chopra's presentation and the morning workshops, or $25 and $55, respectively, for the presentation only.
