PRESIDENT OF DUKE ENERGY GENERATION SERVICES TO TALK AS "EXECUTIVE-IN-RESIDENCE" TODAY

Clarence L. Ray Jr., president of Duke Energy Generation Services, will be the next speaker for Old Dominion University's Landmark Executive-in-Residence Speaker Series Tuesday, April 16.

Sponsored by the College of Business and Public Administration, the series brings accomplished business leaders to campus to share firsthand experience with students. Ray will speak at 12:30 p.m. in Chandler Hall of the Diehn Fine and Performing Arts Center. Seating is on a first-come, first- served basis and the talk is open to the public.

Ray was named president of Duke Energy Generation Services in 2001 and oversees operations and maintenance services for Duke Energy's rapidly growing fleet of wholesale merchant power plants in North America.

Prior to his current position, Ray served as president and chief executive officer of Duke/Fluor Daniel since 1993. Under his leadership, Duke/Fluor Daniel expanded into international markets and expanded its services to encompass all fossil-fueled power generation. By 2000, Duke/Fluor Daniel had grown to the point that it was building about one-third of all natural gas-fired power generation plants under construction in the United States.

Ray received a bachelor's degree in engineering from Old Dominion University and was named a Distinguished Alumnus during Founders' Day in 2000.

He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and is a registered professional engineer in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, New York and Virginia.
