FLANDERS TO SIGN BOOKS SUNDAY

Alan B. Flanders, adjunct assistant professor of history, and R. Thomas Campbell will sign copies of their new book, "Confederate Phoenix: The CSS Virginia," from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Museum, located at 2 High St.

The book is an account of the CSS Virginia of the Confederate States Navy, which destroyed two of the most formidable warships in the U.S. Navy. It includes 96 photos among its 288 pages.

Flanders, a Portsmouth native, is also the author of five other books on naval history. He has written a weekly column, "Olde Towne Journal," for the past 20 years.
