WORKSHOP TO EXPLORE POSSIBILITIES OF MODELING AND SIMULATION IN AEROSPACE SYSTEMS

Old Dominion University's Center for Advanced Engineering Environments will host a "Training Workshop on Multiscale Modeling, Simulation and Visualization" Tuesday and Wednesday, March 5-6, at the NASA Langley Research Center.

The workshop will be held from 8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Pearl Young Theater at NASA Langley Research Center. A free lunch will be provided each day.

The purpose of the workshop is to broaden awareness among NASA researchers, contractors and grantees of the diverse activities related to multiscale modeling, simulation and visualization and their potential to future aerospace systems. Topics include hierarchical approach to material modeling from continuum to atomistics; applications of multiscale modeling to advanced and improved material synthesis; defects, dislocations and material deformation; fracture and friction; thin-film growth; characterization at nano and micro scales; and verification and validation of numerical simulations.
