PENINSULA SCHOOL WINS 'BLUE CRAB BOWL'
Grafton High School of Yorktown won the Blue Crab Bowl competition at Old Dominion University Feb. 23.
Catholic High School of Virginia Beach finished second; Rustburg High School finished third and the Chesapeake Bay Governor's School of Warsaw finished fourth.
Twenty teams from Hampton Roads and throughout Virginia travelled to Old Dominion for the competition. Students answered multiple-choice or short-answer questions from the scientific and technical ocean science disciplines: physics, chemistry, geology, atmospheric science, biology, etc., as well as from topics on ocean-related national and international economics, history and culture.
Virginia's winning team will travel to Providence, R.I., to represent the commonwealth in a national competition with teams from 21 other states.
