FORMER OLD DOMINION PRESIDENT TO DELIVER PRESENTATION ON THE STATE OF THE REGION
James V. Koch, former president and current Board of Visitors Professor of Economics at Old Dominion University, will give a presentation on the second annual State of the Region report at noon Tuesday, Feb. 19.
Sponsored by the Urban League of Hampton Roads, the luncheon will be held at the Town Point Club in Norfolk. Admission is $10 and reservations can be made by calling 627-0864.
Published by Old Dominion's Regional Studies Institute, the State of the Region report is an examination of various Hampton Roads issues, from economic performance to K-12 private schools. The 144-page report also looks at the pros and cons of bringing a major league sports team to the area; the effects of a decline in the volume of coal handled by the Port of Hampton Roads; the region's loss of political clout in the General Assembly as a result of redistricting and other factors; and the effect of banking mergers and consolidations on Hampton Roads.
