DENTAL HYGIENE CLINIC OFFERS $1 ORAL HEALTH SCREENINGS
Old Dominion University's School of Dental Hygiene will conduct oral health screenings from 8:30 a.m. until noon Saturday, Feb. 16, in the university's Dental Hygiene Clinic.
For only $1, patients will receive an oral health screening and up to four X-rays. The service is available to both adults and children ages 4 and older. Proceeds from the screenings will go to the Red Cross Dental Clinic.
All participants who make follow-up appointments will receive a $15 discount on dental hygiene care.
According to Deanne Shuman, chairman of the School of Dental Hygiene, recent studies have shown that oral health is closely related to general health. Poor oral health can contribute to diabetes, heart disease and low birth-weight babies.
Old Dominion's Dental Hygiene Clinic is located inside the university's Technology Building at 47th Street and Hampton Boulevard.
