CD EXCHANGE DESIGNED TO BRING IN MORE COINS FOR SCULPTURE REPRESENTING INTERNATIONAL UNDERSTANDING
Members of the campus community can come away with some new music - and at the same time contribute to a sculpture of international understanding - at the university's first CD trade Monday, Feb. 18.
The event, announced recently by President Roseann Runte, is designed to add to the Webb Center collection box of coins from around the world that will be the medium for a new sculpture on campus.
Runte announced the sculpture project in her inauguration speech, saying, "It will represent international understanding and remain an inspiration for us all as we endeavor to achieve this global agenda."
Here's how the CD exchange will work: From Wednesday, Feb. 13, through Sunday, Feb. 17, bring any of your unwanted CDs to the information desk in Webb Center. For each CD you bring in, you will receive a ticket. (There is no limit on the number of CDs that can be exchanged.) Then, from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, you can use your tickets to pick out other used CDs from the exchange area in the Webb Center lobby. To take part in the trade, participants must donate $1 in U.S. coins (or foreign coins of any value) for the sculpture.
"The U.S. must also be at the heart of our sculpture of international understanding," Runte said.
